Your mission

As a (Senior) Software Engineer – Backend (m/f/d), you are a key driver in advancing our platform architecture within a dynamic, technology-driven environment. You operate confidently across system design, hands-on development, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on quality, scalability, and performance.
At the intersection of engineering, product, and infrastructure, you take ownership of core backend components and actively shape the technological evolution of our platform. You build robust, scalable services, introduce modern technologies where they create real impact, and continuously optimize existing systems.
As an experienced team member, you act as a trusted sparring partner — challenging existing solutions, proactively contributing ideas, and influencing technical decisions without requiring a formal leadership role. Your tasks:

Backend Development & Architecture
  • Develop and maintain the backend of our web platform using Python
  • Contribute to architecture and design decisions for a scalable and future-proof system
  • Design, build, and optimize RESTful APIs and core backend services
  • Leverage AI-powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot) as an integral part of your daily workflow
  • Work in an agile Scrum team with close collaboration across teams
Platform & Infrastructure
  • Expand and optimize our cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure high standards of stability, performance, and scalability
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams
Quality & Automation
  • Design and implement sustainable testing and QA strategies
  • Use AI tools to enhance and accelerate code reviews, test generation, and documentation
  • Drive automation across development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability through modern engineering practices
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Help shape internal best practices for AI-supported software development (tools, workflows, quality standards)
  • Evaluate new AI tools and assess their impact on development speed, code quality, and developer experience
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and frameworks
  • Actively contribute to the technical roadmap
Collaboration & Communication
  • Engage in proactive, constructive technical discussions
  • Work closely with product managers and stakeholders
  • Take ownership of technical topics and drive them to execution

Your Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in backend engineering (ideally 5–10 years)
  • Strong expertise in Python and common frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI)
  • Proven experience building RESTful APIs and scalable backend systems
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and ORMs (e.g., SQLAlchemy)
  • Proven, hands-on experience using AI-powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar) in daily development workflows
  • Experience with search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch)
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Experience evaluating and introducing developer tools in a team environment
Languages
  • Fluent English (working language)
  • German is a plus
